Sri Lanka

Containing the major ethnic groups with Sinhalese,Tamils, Muslims, and Burghers, in addition to the influence of the Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonial powers makes modern day Sri Lanka a melting pot of unique cultures, architecture, religion and amazing food. Sri Lankan food is well known for its complex aromatic flavours with subtle, layered spiciness.
The epic 24000 verse poem, the Ramayana has a special place in Sri Lankan mythology. Hanuman, the Hindu monkey god, demonstrated his immense strength, loyalty and devotion to Lord Rama by leaping across the ocean between India and
Sri Lanka to save Rama’s wife Sita, being held captive by the evil demon king Ravana. Sri Lanka has over 50 sites connected to the Ramayana epic and is a Pilgram trail across the length of the country. Sri Lanka is a nature paradise, from lush rainforests, pristine mountains and alluring beaches offering surf and peaceful tranquillity. The famous mountain Sri Pada is aconical sacred mountain located in central Sri Lanka. Near the summit rises a sacred mythical rock in the shape of footprint, Buddhists believe this is the footprint of the Buddha, Hindus believe it is a representation of Hanuman or Shiva. In the Tamil language Sri Pada literately means Mountain of Shiva's Light Sri Lanka really is the pearl of the Indian ocean.
